Fans and the media analyze every aspect of celebrities’ lives, from discussing their jogging clothes to guessing who they’re dating or why their latest breakup happened. Although some celebrities revel in this attention, others are more close-lipped about their personal lives, especially whom they’re dating. Planning a wedding entails significant work, from finding matching women’s and men’s wedding rings to ensuring you snag the perfect wedding venue. So, it’s impressive that these nine celebrity couples pulled off these gorgeous wedding ceremonies while keeping everything secret from the media.

1. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
Although Ryan and Blake openly poke fun at each other on Instagram, they kept details of their wedding secret, only announcing it after the ceremony. While there are some photos of the event available online, neither celebrity has posted them personally, and only one shows details of Blake’s stunning dress.
The guest list mostly consisted of 60 close friends and family, although some Hollywood mainstays were present, including Ryan’s manager. The couple tied the knot at Boone Hall Plantation in South Carolina on September 9, 2012, with music provided by none other than Florence of Florence and the Machine. The couple is still happily married, with three daughters.
2. Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer
Although Amy Schumer is well known for her outspoken personality, both on and off the stage, she kept her relationship with Chris Fischer private until just before their Malibu wedding.
Comedian John Early acted as their officiant while in character as “Vicky,” from his standup routine, and nearly 100 of their friends and family attended, including Larry David, Jennifer Lawrence, Jake Gyllenhaal and fashion icon Jennifer Aniston. Although they kept it secret before the big day on February 13, 2018, the couple shared multiple pictures on Instagram featuring the bride and groom, the guests, and the stunning scenery.
3. Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley
Known for her work on Suicide Squad, Australian actress Margot Robbie and partner Tom Ackerly kept their wedding so secret, the guests didn’t even know the location. Instead, they all met at various locations and boarded buses, which took them to the wedding. Only 50 people attended the wedding in Byron Bay, New South Wales, on December 18, 2016, in a beautiful and intimate ceremony. Margot’s dress was lacey, with an off-the-shoulder design, and she sported an updo instead of a veil.
4. Allison Williams and Ricky Van Veen
Allison Williams and Ricky Van Veen may have kept their wedding secret from the public, but that didn’t stop them from having an extravagant party. From having Tom Hanks officiate the ceremony to Allison’s couture, custom-made Oscar de la Renta wedding gown, the wedding screamed opulence.
They tied the knot in September 2015 at the Brush Creek Range in Wyoming, with nearly 200 friends, family members, and celebrities in attendance. The stunning views and star-studded guest list made the event one-of-a-kind. Unfortunately, extravagant weddings don’t always mean successful marriages. The couple announced their separation in 2019, to the surprise of their fans and the media.
5. Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden
Superstar Cameron Diaz had dated several celebrities, with paparazzi knowing every detail of her relationships. It took the media and her fans by surprise when she and her partner Benji Madden announced their marriage following their intimate and secretive wedding on January 5th, 2015. The wedding was so secret that the couple never even announced their engagement.
They held their wedding in front of 100 guests in Cameron’s living room in Beverly Hills, followed by a garden party in her yard and tennis courts. The couple has kept it low-key since, staying private about their love life.
6. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher
This adorable couple met in 1998 as teenagers on the set of That ‘70s Show and remained close ever since, staying in touch through marriages and divorces. Despite playing a couple on-screen, their relationship was more like siblings, with Ashton helping Mila with her homework and giving brotherly advice.
In 2012, they started dating off-screen and were engaged by February 2014. However, the wedding didn’t happen for a while because of their daughter’s birth in September 2014. The couple has always been secretive about their relationship, preferring to stay out of the limelight, and their wedding was no different. To this day, little is known about their ceremony on July 4, 2015, although the couple has been open about their honeymoon, which they spent in an RV road-tripping across California.

7. Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego
Zoe Saldana, of Guardians of the Galaxy fame, met Marco Perego only several months before their wedding. Once the couple decided to wed, they planned the entire ceremony in only three weeks. Zoe and Marco kept their wedding in London in June 2013 so secret that the press only learned of it after spotting the couple sporting wedding rings in September 2013. The couple has released little information about their special day, preferring to speak about their healthy relationship, gushing about how each supports the other.
8. Jay Z and Beyoncé
One of the hottest power couples on the planet, Jay Z and Beyoncé kept their wedding private, preferring to keep their cherished moments intimate. The couple didn’t even announce their engagement, and the press learned of the marriage after spotting them picking up their marriage license in April 2008. Not much is known about the private ceremony. They married in Jay-Z’s penthouse with a guest list of around 40. Beyoncé wore a strapless dress designed by her mom, complete with a traditional veil.
While the wedding was secret, the couple has dropped hints about their relationship through their lyrics. Jay Z revealed an affair and Beyoncé’s forgiveness, while Beyoncé recently released a new music video featuring her husband and three children.
